Meeting Topics
Tom Tucker: Iowa Honey Producers
Field Day Report This year the field day was sponsored by Pat and
Peggy Ennis and included speakers Greg McMahen aka “The Bee Guru”
and Iowa State Aprist Andy Joseph. Field day topics included swarm
removal, different mite count methods, and bee wax products.
Wax Months are currently out and
steps need to be taken to protect your frames. Months do not care for
light or air movement.
Spring Hardships Many reported
slow starts and late bee freezes in May. This year we faced a 3 week
cold snap.
Swarm Season Many members
reported catching swarms this year.
